Ha, made it to second post. Looks like this blogging thing is going to work for me. In fact, I was excited to write today. Oh how did my History exam go? It went well, thanks for asking. I stayed up until 2:00 am
So as mentioned, today I'm going to talk about 'Judgments and Assumptions'. I was actually going to write about this topic yesterday for my first post but I figured an introduction would be quite a necessity. Now to start off, think to yourself... What is the first thing that pops in your mind when you hear the word 'JUDGE'? Personally, I think of lawyers. I think of court. I think of that loud 'Tap! Tap! Tap!' sound made by that little hammer thing or whatever it is (edit: 'gavel', apparently). I think of racism. I think of God. I think of today's generation. Which then leads me to thinking... Teenagers. Now I would be quite the liar if I said "I have never judged in my entire existence" wouldn't I? Mind you, I have judged quite a number of times. So I can't really say I hate judgmental people. That'd mean I hate myself. That'd mean I hate everyone.
I hate judgmental people.
That was a lie. Partly. I mean, for one, 'hate' is a very strong word. Which I might tell you, have lost it's meaning these days (once again, such topic should be saved for my later posts). But if you think about it, judgmental people... What do you think of them? I mean of course, nobody wants to be judged. I know you don't. I don't. I know that feeling when someone says something about you as if they've known you for all their life when really, they've only just seen you walk past them. Ridiculous right? Whether you want to believe it or not, everyone judges. Although, there are different levels of 'judging'. There are the people who judge you by the way you act, what you wore today, how your hair looked like, how you smell, your breath, and lots of other things. Oh, and let's not forget racism.
They do actually still exist, racists. I would've thought all the discrimination about skin color had ended after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862 (History, you finally came in handy), even though that was in America. But if you knew better, you'd know they're everywhere. Walking on the face of the Earth right at this very moment. I would say that my parents became slightly racist ever since we moved. My brother too. It's heartbreaking to actually hear someone judge a person because of their race right in front of you. Not to mention a family member. But I constantly remind them that "Whatever a person does depends fully on themselves, not on their race." Thankfully, it shuts them up.
Let's also not forget the most common type of judgment especially at this day and age. Judging a person on the outside. Ask yourself, have you ever judged someone based on their appearance? Size? Color? It's such a shame that some people 'hate' themselves to the point that they engage into self-harming because humans are just simply shallow. Have you ever stopped and thought of being someone else for once? To think of what it would've been like if you were different from who you are now? To be in someone else's shoes? Would people treat you different? See you in a different way? Have you ever thought of what that lady behind the counter is feeling? Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. Maybe you don't even care.
People judge. But do we really have to? No. Do we anyway? Yes. Commenting on someone's hair is considered judging. Although I'm not saying that there's anything wrong about commenting on anyone's hair. But do some people deserve to be put down because of the way other people judge them? Whether it be race, appearance, size, sexuality, beliefs or mentality, no, they don't. He doesn't. She doesn't. You don't. I don't. We don't.
