Day 8: The Society Against Gay People

Hello stranger,

Right now I have the biggest headache. I had two exams today and it was dead tiring. I was going to put off this post for tomorrow but I realized I'm going to be busy because my friend's coming over. Would you look at that, I have a life. A friend who, by the way, requested our topic for today. A very dear friend, I should say. And I love her to the very last drop of the ocean. Yes, that's deep.

So today's topic is, with no doubt, probably one of the biggest conflicts nowadays. Well, even back then it was still a pretty big issue. My thing is, I don't see why it is. Do you? If you do, would you be kind enough to explain it to me? I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with everything you say if you ever did try to explain to me your problem with gay people, though. However, everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I asked for yours, so I can't really blame you. If you're a person who strongly disapproves of the idea of homosexuality, then I might as well tell you now that everything that I'm going to be writing in this post are based on my own, sheer opinion. Which is, I'm for homosexuality. Not because I'm homosexual, which I'm not, though you don't have to be one to support the idea, and not because I have homosexual friends. I guarantee you that my posts are based on what I actually think. Which is really the whole purpose of this blog.

What is the big deal about homosexuality? Personally, I think homosexuals are great. Face it. They're one of the funniest people you'll ever meet. And no matter how much you dislike or hate them or whatever, if you were stuck in a room with them for at least a whole week, you'll surely grow to love them. I can bet my life on it. Unless of course, you're really not willing to make the change. Then you're not really worth bothering with. I still, at some point, have this tiny part inside of me, somewhere, that respects people who are indeed, against homosexuality. Probably somewhere deep, though. Very deep.

The truth is, from whatever aspect you look at it, homosexual people are still as normal as showering for hygiene. Okay, maybe I'm making a really broad generalization and probably a lot of people have been disagreeing and shaking their heads off the whole time since they started reading this. Some people have probably even stopped straight after reading the title. What can I say? It was requested, and I thought it would be a great topic. I told you I was for homosexuality. I didn't say I was unbiased. So I was just thinking and now I'm kind of worried that everything I'm saying are not really matching up together. If they don't, my excuse would be my state. Being too haggard. And probably also the constant distraction from my parents, and hearing 'U2' play from a distance who apparently is having a concert somewhere.

Back on track. The fact that the society makes such a big deal about homosexuality. Not even just homosexuality, I tell you, they make a big deal of everything. Maybe people's views on homosexuality could also be a result of the way they've been brought up, or they just simply chose to have that view. But the way I was raised (or more like what I chose to believe), homosexual people are just like everyone else, with a slight twist. Although they still feel the same things as us, see the same things, eat the same things, wear the same type of clothing... For all you know, your school principal could be gay. You're probably thinking: "Naaah." Either way, I'm just trying to make a point. So what's the big hassle? It's not like they run around trying to convert everyone like it's some type of cult. No, homosexual people are just like you, and me. And most of the time even more good-looking. That's probably also one of the reasons some people dislike them. If it is, COME ON. Seriously.

And mind you, just to make another point, just because someone's a Christian doesn't mean they're against gay people. Some Christians could fully support homosexuality and still be a Christian. Right? At least I think anyway. If it shouldn't be a big deal to society, why should it be more of a big deal to religion? But I'm not going to go there. I'm just saying, gay people don't have to be treated any less than what they deserve. No one does. I'm pretty sure I've talked about this in one of my other posts. Some people just need stop being shallow, suck it up, and chill out. Gay people are awesome. And I'm not going to tell you any different, not in this world, not ever.
