Day 9: The Key To Happiness

Hello stranger,

I know, this was supposed to be yesterday's post. But I only had free time after 12:00 am. I was too tired and I couldn't concentrate with stuff, let alone write a post, so I went to bed instead. I realized that there are probably going to be more incidents like these in the future so I thought of writing 'Next Time' at the end of each post instead of 'Tomorrow'. Brilliant idea? Maybe. Not really. No, never mind then. I love writing everyday, except for last night. I was tired. Like really. Won't happen again, but no promises.

Okay, so today is 'happiness' day. Before I start, let me ask you: "What makes you happy?" Let that question ring out for about 10 seconds inside your head. It sounds like just a simple '1 + 1 = window 2' question but if you dig deep, you'll find that there are more things than you know that make you happy. Lots of things make me happy, apart from writing and music, another thing would be 'Hello Kitty'. I don't even care what other people think, I love Hello Kitty. She's the coolest cat in the world, even though I'm a dog person (edit: I'm a dog and cat person). It makes me happy that my laugh can (apparently) cheer people up, and it makes me happy that everyone I care about are in good conditions. I know that sounds cheesy, but cheese makes some people happy too. There you go.

But what really made me happy this year, is seeing 'Paramore' live for the first time. If you don't know who they are, I'm sorry but it's time to come out of your cave. I mean, they're only the greatest band ever. I'm not even just saying that because they're my favorite band. Okay maybe I am, but you'd say the same thing about your favorite band. Mind you, a member of another band called 'You Me At Six' said they're the "biggest band today". So, nothing personal. Just facts.

Anyway, moving on. Being happy isn't really something you can force to yourself. Unless I guess, you have to. But let's face it, the line "I love him/her, but if that's what makes him/her happy then I'm happy" is not really genuinely true when someone says it, is it? I mean it's the right attitude to have towards the situation, but do you think they really mean it? In my opinion, no, they most likely don't. Because I know that they're hurting inside, and they don't really have any other choice. I think it's just people's way of convincing themselves to accept some painful truths. On the other hand, I'm not saying that that's the case all the time. I'm just saying, I think it's weird, that statement.

Happiness, like love, comes in naturally. I mean there are some things that you absolutely can't stand but they make you awfully happy. Trust me, I know. And it's not really about having a tremendous amount of money either, maybe it is for some people. Really though, I highly doubt 'money' could make anyone eternally happy. Just to make it clear, I have nothing against rich people. Although if something like money did make you happy, then I don't see why you should care about anything or anyone else. If something makes you happy, so happy it almost seems unreal to you, then don't let it go. Let it grow in you. Yes, maybe that includes money too. But that'd mean starting up a business, or working all the time... Whatever.

So what is the key to being happy? Well it's only really a matter of being in the right place at the right time with the right people. According to the movie 'Night at the Museum 2', the key to happiness is physical exercise "doing what you love". Which I totally agree with. It's probably one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Funny movies make me happy.
